About PhotoScanr

PhotoScanr is a small tool that helps you quickly understand and describe your photos. You upload an image and receive instant suggestions for titles, captions, keywords, and simple technical details. The goal is to make organizing and sharing photos easier, not more complicated.

PhotoScanr exists to remove a boring part of modern photography workflows. Tagging, describing, and preparing images for websites or social platforms often takes far longer than it should. PhotoScanr uses AI to give you a fast starting point so you can focus on the creative work instead of tedious data entry.

Built For Real Day To Day Use

PhotoScanr is made for photographers, content creators, social media managers, e commerce sellers, and anyone with more images than time. There are no accounts to create and no complicated setup. You open the site, add your photos, and get useful text you can copy or export.

The tool includes simple modes for different platforms. For example, Instagram mode focuses on captions and hashtags that fit typical post limits, and Flickr mode focuses on longer descriptions and many tags for large image libraries. The idea is not to be clever or flashy, but to save you real hours each week.

PhotoScanr also works well in batches. You can process several images together, review the suggestions, and then export everything for use in your own systems. Whether you are working with a single favorite image or an entire project, the goal is the same: less friction and more flow.

Our Founder

PhotoScanr was created by Duncan Rawlinson, a photographer, investor, and entrepreneur with over two decades behind the camera. His work has appeared in major publications and galleries, and he has spent much of his career managing very large photo collections.

Over time, one problem kept repeating: describing and tagging images at scale took a huge amount of energy. That experience directly shaped PhotoScanr. The tool was originally built to speed up his own workflow, then opened up so other people could benefit from the same shortcuts.

Duncan also created Photographyicon.com, a photography education site. Teaching thousands of students has made it clear where photographers get stuck and what actually helps. PhotoScanr is one small, practical answer to those real world problems.

On Duncan.co he writes about photography, technology, and long term creative work. That mix of craft and systems thinking is baked into PhotoScanr. It is not meant to be a big platform. It is meant to be a sharp, focused tool that quietly does its job well.

How We Use AI

PhotoScanr uses AI in a very straightforward way. The system looks at your image, suggests text that matches what it sees, and then gets out of the way. It does not try to own your work or replace your voice. It simply helps with the first draft.

The priorities are simple: keep things fast, keep things private, and make the tool feel predictable. Your photos are used only to create your results. They are not turned into a profile, sold, or used to chase you around the internet. You decide what to keep, what to edit, and what to ignore.

Behind the scenes, PhotoScanr relies on modern, reliable infrastructure, but you never need to think about it. There are no settings to tune and nothing to install. It is a single page that loads quickly and does what it promises.

Why PhotoScanr Exists

There are more photos in the world than ever before, but turning them into something usable often takes more work than creating them. Good titles help people remember images. Good captions tell stories. Good keywords make archives searchable. All of that matters, but very few people have the time to do it by hand for every image.

PhotoScanr is a small step in the opposite direction. Instead of expecting people to act like machines, it lets a machine handle the repetitive part so humans can do the interesting part. AI handles the first pass, and you bring taste, judgment, and experience.

The philosophy is simple: tools should support human creativity, not compete with it. If PhotoScanr helps you get through your backlog a little faster, publish more work, or keep your archive in better shape with less effort, then it is doing its job.
